gerry_barber_newGerry Barber started Madera Enterprises in 1980 after two years teaching public school in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Madera Enterprises was involved in building custom furniture and cabinets. Gerry also taught woodworking classes at night for the University of New Mexico, Los Alamos campus. Gradually, the small enterprise evolved into larger productions building decks, additions, and eventually a house for speculation in 1982.

Madera Builders LLC has been involved in various construction projects nonstop ever since. With a small crew of long time, skilled craftsmen, Madera Builders LLC has expanded from building custom one-of-a-kind homes to historic renovations, remodels, additions, hunting lodges, condominium projects and high country log homes.

Madera Builders LLC constructs projects from Santa Fe to Los Alamos to Taos. Gerry and his wife, Linda, are developing a small green energy subdivision in Taos, New Mexico, as well as working on several other projects in the surrounding area. Each project is personally overseen by Gerry and he is in daily contact with one of his long time superintendents who oversees each job.

Gerry is on the Board of Directors of the Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association. He is a member of the Santa Fe Green Council, Chairman of the Santa Fe Remodelers Council for 2010, was named Santa Fe Area Home Builders Remodeler of the Year in 2008 and Santa Fe Area Home Builders Builder of the Year in 2009.

Madera Builders won the Grand Hacienda award during the Santa Fe Parade of Homes in 1993 and again in 1994, as well as numerous other awards through the years for various projects.
